*CRITERIA – You must be Wahine Māori, limited spaces available.
Attendees have two options to wānanga and learn Korowai/Kākahu
Tuesdays 10am or 6pm
or
Thursday 10am or 6pm
*Note – you can come to as many as you would like, even all 4 sessions.
*Addition – you will receive access to an App with the video tutorials also, after each session.
 *Optional – Face to face/Kanohi ki te kanohi – If you live in Auckland you have the option to attend Mangere Class on Mondays 10am – 1pm or Manukau Class on Wednesdays 10am – 1pm  

During the 10 weeks, you will make your own Korowai/Kākahu that will fit a newborn baby or can be framed. This small size is important when creating your first Korowai/Kākahu.

The price includes materials to be able to complete your Korowai/Kākahu.

*Materials include:

  • Board
  • Nails
  • Feathers
  • Whenu (thicker rope)
  • Aho (cotton)
  • Taniko (cotton)

*Note – feathers colours and cotton colours are automatically sent out. No colour requests available. Attendees are welcome to also buy additional feathers and cotton, if they prefer different colours.

Your kaiako/koka is Whaea Hera Tumai. Whaea has been making and involved with Korowai/Kākahu for most of her life and has been delivering this wānanga for years.

This program is usually for Wahine wanting to quit smoking, but Whaea has decided to offer this wānanga wider, because the mātauranga and experience can help everyone, in their own and unique ways.
